Uber what??

I came to the realization today that I'm not as cool as I once was (or at least as I once thought I was). Jason and I were in church today listening to a very compelling sermon on the grace of God when our pastor brought up the term "uber" as something the kids say now a days to describe an extreme. For example, someone is "uber rich" or "uber cool". Apparently, it comes from the German language and I'm so out of touch with this term that I don't even know if I'm spelling it correctly. Anyway, as I heard this I turned to Jason with a puzzled look, for I had never heard of such a ridiculous thing. I was hoping to see the same look of bewilderment back, but instead got a "You've never heard that? Where have you been?" And that's when I realized that I'm a wee bit out of touch with the goings on in the world. I'm that mom that I once rolled my eyes at. The mom that when I was a teenager insisted on saying "NOT!!" about 5 years after it was cool. (By the way, wasn't there a Friends episode where Ross uses a laundry detergent called Uberweiss? But I digress...)

Anyway, in the hopes that I'm not the only person out of touch with the youth of our nation, I've added a poll on this blog for you guys to tell me whether or not you had heard the term "uber" before. I may find that everyone else has heard of this and I'm just uber dorky...

The Little Gymnast

Today was Presleigh's first class at the Little Gym. We enrolled her in the hopes that she could get some energy out while at the same time learning and having fun. To say that our goal was accomplished is an understatement. Jason took her into the class while Squid and I watched from the "viewing area" behind the glass. I laughed while watching my little munchkin hang from the uneven bars like a monkey, roll down a hill of mats like a roly-poly, and smile all the while. The best part, though, was watching my hubby roll around on the ground with her, helping her do somersaults and having just as much fun as her. And then I thought to myself, "I'm a pretty lucky girl." I continued my thoughts about how great my life is when all of a sudden I was interrupted by the munchkin tapping on the glass trying to get my attention. She wanted to be sure I was watching her and of course, I was. I have to say, I'm proud of my little one. She was the youngest one in the class but she hung in there and kept up with all the older kids. In fact, we had to drag her out the door kicking and screaming because she had so much fun. We'll have to work on that part....

Welcome to our blog

In an effort to keep friends and family up to date on the crazy happenings in our household Jason and I have joined the blogging world. It's only fitting, then, that I begin our blog recounting an experience I had the other day....I had just gotten home from running some errands with the girls and was starting a round of diaper changes. Squid (that's Sydney to those of you who don't know the crazy nicknames we have adopted) was changed and happy. P (Presleigh aka P, Pmunch, munchy, munchkin, p-mizzunch, etc.), on the other hand, was poopy and not so happy. I proceeded to change her, only to have her jump up butt naked and go running across her room. She apparently was not done making her deposit and decided that the carpet next to her crib was the best spot to finish such a task. Yes, my daughter pooped on the floor. And so, my friends, goes another day in the Adam circus. Stay tuned....
