So long, mullet

I love a lot of things about my little P Munchkin but one of my favorite things about her is her hair. It's been a long journey in getting what hair she does have, so you can imagine my reluctance to cut a single hair. But I began to be reminded of Billy Ray Cyrus in his "Achy Breaky Heart" days every time I looked at her, and that's when I realized it was time to get a haircut. So this past week, while I was in Dallas with the girls, Kassie and I decided to make a trip to Cool Cuts with the kids. I was a little nervous because I had visions of the cousins photo shoot still haunting me in my dreams, and considering she won't sit still for 2 seconds to let me brush her hair I had no idea how the hair dresser was going to manage actually cutting her hair. But I was pleasantly surprised. Besides the occasional "No!" and "Ow!" (yes, she would yell "Ow" when the hair dresser got even remotely close with the scissors) it was not a bad experience at all. P watched Baby Einstein, ate a Nilla Wafer, and 15 minutes later....no more mullet!! She ended up with the cutest little bob that's angled on the sides (for a mini Victoria Beckham look). It is precious! Now maybe I can get "Achy Breaky Heart" out of my head....

Long time no blog...

Okay, so I know it's been forever since I posted anything on our blog. But if you guys had any idea how crazy my life has been lately (and some of you do) you'd understand. Between showings on the house, getting locked out of my house (long story) and keeping up with the kiddos I barely have time to breathe. But alas, the girls are napping at the same time today! Okay, so Presleigh's not really napping. She's supposed to be sleeping, but instead she's wandering around her room playing with her toys, enjoying the new freedom that comes with being in a big girl bed. She has taken to the transition nicely though. We've conquered her urge to get up at 3:30 in the morning and roam the house like she did the first couple of nights. Funny now. Not funny then.

Anyway, so a couple of weekends ago Jason and I and the girls packed up and headed to Austin for the weekend to visit with Carly and Joe. Or Carly-Joe as P likes to say. We had so much fun going to the pool, relaxing in the backyard and of course, playing Guitar Hero once the girls were in bed. Presleigh had so much fun and Sydney, of course, was cool with whatever. She's a pretty laid back little girl. So, here are some pics to show the excitement of the weekend. You can see more on Carly's blog, Cherry Blossom Photography

All in all, it was a great weekend and we can't wait to go back!

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

It's a rare occurrence that Presleigh and Sydney get to hang out with all of their cousins at once (in fact, it usually only happens once a year). So when both of my sisters-in-law and their kiddos came to visit a couple of weeks ago, we crammed as many activities as humanly possible in a week. The purpose of this was two-fold: 1) to keep the kids as busy as possible 2) to make the most of the time we all had together. One of these memorable experiences involved taking all five kids to get their picture taken together. I don't know whose brilliant idea it was (oh alright, I take the blame) but somewhere in the back of my mind I thought, 'Surely it can't be that hard to get two 3 year olds, two 1 year olds, and a 5 month old to sit still and smile for a few pictures.' (I now realize that I was insane and delusional at the time). Anyway, at 9 am on a Wednesday morning Tracey, Kassie, and I adventured out with five kids in tow for what is now one of the funniest experiences ever.

First, we walk into the portrait studio and I immediately see the expression on the face of the photographer go from 'Alright, let's take some pictures!' to 'You want them in a picture all at once?' to 'You've got to be kidding me.' God bless that poor girl for she didn't know what she was walking into when she came in to work that day. As soon as Presleigh got even close to the camera, she threw a fit. I'm talking full-out-screaming, tears-streaming-down-the-face fit. And Dane, the other 1 year old, followed suit immediately. Collin and Keatyn, the two 3 year olds, did pretty well. Keatyn gladly sat front and center with a big smile on her face. Collin took a little more convincing, but soon cooperated. And Sydney, poor Sydney, she didn't know what was going on. She was just sitting in a chair with her eyes as big as saucers for she had never experienced anything so loud in all her 5 months of life. And the attempt to get one, just one, good picture began. And ended. That's right, we got two, count them TWO, pictures before the screaming and crying led us to wave the white flag and surrender. We got dominated.

And so, below is the picture of all the cousins that we chose to get prints of, and I must say, it's better than any picture I could have imagined. It shows the true essence of what these kids are all about. And the experience, as painfully frustrating as it was, was totally worth it.
